about me

Hey, I am Amy!

I am currently studying on the BA Digital Media degree at Stirling University. It is a dual degree with the Stirling Forth Valley Collage which is where I am now.

Since forever, I have been interested in creating things like taking photos and filming, drawing, etc. Luckily for me when I was going into s5 they started to offer Foundation Apprenticeships (FA’s).
Ok now may be a good time to bring up where I was raised. I was born on a small island of the west coast of Scotland called the Isle of Lewis. Lewis’s native language wasn’t English but Gaelic so my parents (although being English) put me and my two older brothers though Gaelic medium in school (because I really needed another challenge on top of dyslexia).

Throughout school (as well as personal curiosity) I learnt how to use tools like adobe illustrator, photoshop and primer pro (and a bit of aftereffects). However, after I applied to Universities I decided I wanted a gap year so I deferred till the next year but then, unexpectedly, my family moved to sunny Dundee. Once there, I applied for a Modern Apprentice job for Dundee City Council as a Digital Assistant, which of course I got.

During my time at DCC I was with the Digital Skills team whose main aim was to help employees learn new digital systems and try encourage them to embrace the change to the digital world. Most of the tasks I was given were around promotion. This included making graphics, videos, sways as well as posting on teams and yammer about upcoming learning opportunities and events.

Flash forward two years, a LOT of teams calls and a Modern Apprentice qualification and I am bidding farewell to a wonderful team and am off on the next chapter, University where I am currently.

But enough about my career moves let’s get personal!

I was born in the best year ever 03, in the best month ever April (making me and Aires). On the day I was born the No.1 song was 50 Cents ‘In Da Club’ in the US and in the UK it was ‘Make Luv’ by Room 5, and Tony Blair was the Prime Minister.

I have two older brothers, I like sea and wild swimming, I LOVE the rain (and wind), my favourite food is pasta (honourable mentions to cheese obviously), I broke both kneecaps on my 13th birthday, I am currently learning the guitar and I have never owned a pet.

Ok that’s seems like enough for now.

Thanks for reading and getting to know me :)
